Denter and famed investigative genetic genealogist Barbara Rae-Venter is coming to Redmond to talk about her new book, I Know Who You Are: How an Amateur DNA Sleuth Unmasked the Golden State Killer and Changed Crime Fighting Forever, at Brick and Mortar Books on Feb 12 in Redmond Town Center.

After her talk, we will be walking over to Salt Lounge at iPic Theatre for a private reception where we can learn more from Barbara. For Dent Passport holders, tickets to the event are complimentary and include two drink tickets. (Apply for a Dent Passport here.)

Proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to Barbara's non-profit Firebird Forensics, which empowers  a dynamic team of participants who use Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG) to identify suspects in violent crimes, solve unidentified human remains cases and bring compassionate closure to victims. They have collectively solved over 50 forensic cases including many complex cases that other groups would not take on.

Barbara Rae-Venter is a New Zealand-born American investigative genetic genealogist, biologist, and retired patent attorney best known for her work helping the FBI and other investigators identify Joseph James DeAngelo as the Golden State Killer. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of California at San Diego and later a law degree at the University of Texas at Austin Law School. Barbara is a founder and the president of Firebird Forensics Group, a not for profit corporation. Her investigative work earned her a place on the Time 100 list of most influential people and was recognized by the journal Nature as one of “10 People Who Mattered in Science in 2018.”
